Session Three 25th of November 2010

On the 25th of November, it was week 3 and the Year 11 Girls were powering into a very tense session. Lanasujoja knew that a strong session today could get them very close to Paris and Six lions knew that a strong team effort would help their challenge for 2nd Place.

A staggering 976.90KM was covered by all teams! which was a increase on last weeks total of 749.16KM. From week 1 the KM count has increased;

Totals:1. 476.832. 749.163. 976.9

Each session the groups have developed their team building skills by talking about their target for the session and allocating personal targets for each team member (E.g. 10KM or 7KM or 5KM).

The current standings are as follows;
4th Place:
Spongebob Circle Pants : )
TOTAL = 300KM
POSITION = Outside Dover

3rd Place:
Barbie Girls
TOTAL = 337KM
POSITION = In France on the E19 just past Arras

2nd Place:
Six Lions
TOTAL = 607KM
POSITION = outside Compeigne in France

1st Place:
TOTAL = 751KM
POSITION = In Paris, France.
WINNERS = Lanasujoja

Congratulations to Lanasujoja!! They have reached the destination of Paris!! I amazing effort by all team members who each week increased their total to power to Victory!!
Week 1 = 176.26KM
Week 2 = 253.12KM
Week 3 = 322.12KM

The competition is hotting up as it looks like its a battle for 2nd Place between Six Lions who overtook Barbie Girls after session 3.

We also had some amazing individual scores this week and the current top 5 are;
1st = 234.40KM (x4 Bonus)
2nd = 211.48KM (x4 Bonus)
3rd = 169.40KM (x4 Bonus)
4th = 168.52KM (x4 Bonus)
5th = 166.48KM (x4 Bonus)

The individual competition rolls into the final week and it could all change in session 4. Will Lanasujoja ease up after their team victory or will they push for extra KM in the individual competition? For 2nd place who will it be? Six Lions or Barbie Girls? It all comes down to the last session!

Bring on Session Four on Thursday!

Session Two 18th of November 2010

On the 18th of November, the Year 11 Girls experienced their second session of the 'Rat Race: Nottingham to Paris' in the Gym at the Djanogly Leisure Centre. It was a very competitive session and all pupils were full of energy striving to gain the bonuses on offer en route across the country.
The girls were aware of how well their team did the week before, as the team leader was emailed the link to the blog. The girls reflected on last weeks scores, they were told that the teams that gained the greatest distance in KM were the teams that had all members hit a bonus (at least x2). Teams then began talking and at least 5KM was the target for all pupils.
A whopping total of 749.16KM was covered by the four teams competing, which is a whopping increase of 272.33KM to the first sessions total (despite all teams missing at least 1 member of their team).
The girls were working together selecting which piece of equipment was the most effective from session 1 and how long to stay on for e.g. Treadmill/ Exercise Bike/ Rowing Machine etc. All teams worked very hard and at the end of the session all of the individual scores were recorded and totalled.
After the second session the scores are as follows;
4th Place:

Spongebob Circle Pants : )
TOTAL = 126.85KM
POSITION = In Luton

3rd Place:
Six Lions
TOTAL = 274.97KM
POSITION = In the English Channel heading towards Calais.

2nd Place:
Barbie Girls
TOTAL = 394.79KM
POSITION = In France on the A26

1st Place:
Lanasujoja
TOTAL = 429.38KM
POSITION = In France between Saint Omer and Bethune on the E15

We also had some amazing individual scores this week and the current top 4 are;
1st = 149.56KM (x4 Bonus)
2nd = 128.12KM (x4 Bonus)
3rd = 110.28KM (x4 Bonus)
4th = 109.40 (x4 Bonus)

Excellent second session (even with a few absences) to the 'Rat Race: Nottingham to Paris'! Will Spongebob Circle Pants : ) reach the English Channel, will Six Lions continue their strong performance and become a contender? and will Lanasujoja still be the team at the front? or will Barbie Girls become the team to beat? Only the next session will answer these questions!

Bring on Session Three on Thursday!
