Term 3: Session 4 NON Contact Boxing

Last week the Year 11 girls took part in their fourth and final NON Contact Boxing session. The students have been learning the different techniques and skills needed in Boxing and Kick Boxing.

To recap the Right and Left Roundhouse Kick, the students performed the practice below in pairs;

The pupils on the mats had to react from different positions on the mat and sprint to their partner. When they reached their partner they completed 5 Right Leg Roundhouse Kicks.
The positions were;
1. Standing on the mat facing their partner.
2. Sat down on the mat, legs crossed and arms folded.
3. Laid down on their backs on the mat, legs pointing towards their partner, facing the ceiling and eyes closed.

Their partners then rotated and they now had to complete 5 Left Leg Roundhouse Kicks.
4. Laid down on their fronts on the mat, legs pointing away from their partner, arms by their sides and palms facing the ceiling.
5. Sat down on the mat facing away from their partner, legs crossed and arms folded.

Last one, the pupils then had to deliver 1, 2's to the Kick Pad for 10 Secs non stop!
6. Standing on the mat facing their partner and with their eyes closed.

The roles were then reversed and the stages were repeated once through.

The pupils then moved into partner pad work and the following sequences were practiced;

Final PE Session of Term 2

Yesterday was the final session for the Year 11 Girls and as a reward for their hard work over Term 1 & 2, they went outdoor Ice Skating in the centre of Nottingham.

We headed to the Old Market Square in Nottingham, to the National Ice Centre Outdoor Rink. Here are a few snapshots of the afternoon.

Teamwork

Even a train was spotted on the rink

I can do it with my hands in my pocket

The girls thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon and even when it snowed there were no complaints. Also, the non skaters who were lacking confidence powered through and were skating solo around the rink by the end of the session.

A very successful two terms for the class and we can look forward to Swimming/ Boxing next term.

Happy Holidays and enjoy the two weeks off.

Week 6: Individual Rat Race Poll Final Standings

The final standings are in and a HUGE thankyou to all the students that voted over the last 48hrs. Here are the final standings;

Poll Everywhere

1st = Sarah
2nd = Hussna
3rd = Anisa/ Aqeelah/ Demi
6th = Adila
7th = Lauren/ PJ
9th = Joanna/ Joy

The reason for the poll was for each member of the top ten to gain extra KM, the place that they finished in would then earn them extra KM.
For example;
1st = 100km
2nd = 90km
3rd = 80km
4th = 70km
5th = 60km
6th = 50km
7th = 40km
8th = 30km
9th = 20km
10th = 10km

If there was a tie in positions then the points would be shared evenly for the places that are eliminated.
For example,
- Joint 3rd are Anisa/ Aqeelah/ Demi
- The points awarded for those 3positions are as follows;
                                                                                      3rd = 80km
                                                                                      4th = 70km
                                                                                      5th = 60km (Total of = 210/ 3 = 70km each)

The actual standings after 3 weeks are now available via the google docs link below;
